Business Plan Released

The three associations are releasing the joint business plan for the proposed merger. The plan is on a PDF and a link to the document is located here

The membership of the three associations must approve the proposal in order to execute the merger, the electronic vote will be held from February 15th at 9:00 am until February 29 at 5:00 pm. To be eligible to vote, 2012 REALTOR® dues must be received by PSAR before February 10 at 5:00 pm. The vote will be held through an online voting tool. Members will also be able to come to the office to vote online and our service representatives will help anyone who needs help logging in or accessing a computer.

Informational Sessions

PSAR's CEO and or members from the Board of Directors are available to speak at your office meeting to discuss this plan and the opportunities and challenges involved. Please contact administrator@psar.org to set up a meeting.

Two informational sessions open to the membership will be held. The first following the PSAR Insider Forum and Marketing Session on February 2nd at 9:00 following the property pitches, and the second at a special Brown Bag Lunch meeting on February 7th at 12:00.

Consolidation and Expansion

The existing NSDCAR is actually the result of a number of associations merging to create a new association. NSDCAR consolidated administrative functions and expanded services to all of the members. This consolidation lowered the overhead and created the opportunity to provide more services for its membership while keeping membership fees low. Each district in the new association still maintains its local identity and holds meetings at its local service center.

The consolidation of of administrative functions like legal, receivables, payables, databases, IT & communications, helps the membership save money that is available for the association to expand services. One immediate benefit to the members will be the availability of seven service centers around the county to use when selling or working with buyers from out of the area. Latest Development

On Thursday, December 15, the Boards of Directors of the East San Diego County Association of REALTORS® (ESDCAR), the North San Diego County Association of REALTORS® (NSDCAR) and the Pacific Southwest Association of REALTORS® (PSAR), meeting separately, each voted to submit the proposed merger of the three associations to a vote of their respective members. The vote will take place sometime in the first Quarter of 2012, but not before February 1, 2012. Details about the merger proposal and informational sessions will be available shortly after January 1, 2012.

On July 14, 2011,
In separate meetings, the Boards of Directors of the PACIFIC SOUTHWEST COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, EAST SAN DIEGO COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®, and NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® unanimously voted to enter into exploration of a merger. After an intense period of study and due diligence, the final decision to merge will be made by vote of the members of our respective associations.

On August 18, 2011
Members from the three associations began to meet on August 5th. PSAR President Nikki Coppa, PSAR Past President Pat Russiano, and PSAR Director Bob Olivieri represented PSAR on this Steering Committee. The result of the first meeting was released on August 24th. On August 31, 2011
The steering committee which was comprised of members from the three associations released an update on the progress of the talks. The associations began reviewing the feasibility, opportunities and risk involved in a potential merger. The update may be read here: Steering Committee Update

After many meetings of different committees set up to explore and come up with a plan that could potentially work for all three associations, the Steering Committee released an update on the progress of the discussions and was prepared to bring the proposal the the three Boards of Directors for a vote.
